Kencom is a communications company offering a variety of communications and electronic services to businesses and public safety agencies. Although we opened up in May of 2019, we have customers that we have served for over 40 years through several companies. Our owner and operator, Ken Prather has over 40 years of experience working first hand with most all brands of two way radios. From working in the oil boom of the 1980's Ken gained his initial experience working for one of the leading two way radio companies and mobile phone providers in the area at Jays Radio Communications service. Starting has an installer, he soon rose to field technician, working on all kinds of systems, from public safety agencies, to farming industries, oilfield and service companies working onshore and offshore, education facilities, and just about any business you can name. This unique and wide range of business and systems helped him to gain a large amount of basic communications knowledge and background. Through the years, Ken went through several transitions of ownership at Jays radio, eventually buying out the communications side and operating that for many years, before merging with Cal's Communications Service and working there until 2019 when Cals was sold to another company. At that time, Ken decided to open Kencom and has been operating it since then. We have many customers who have followed Ken for all those years, and became valuable customers of Kencom when it was started in 2019. Kencom does a  great deal of work for the Lafayette Parish Government, assisting with communications and other special projects, as well as relationships with government agencies from surrounding parishes.
